This is a wonderful example of a classic Olds Super jazz trombone from the middle of the big-band era, 1954. The horn has a beautiful rose brass and nickel plated lacquer and the gorgeous Olds bell ring. The horn is original and unrestored. It could use a cleaning and professional service but plays fantastic. The fluted 16-sided slide tubes are in great shape with no dents, but could use a good cleaning and service to be restored to their original speed. The slide doesn’t stick but is a bit slower than it could be. There are a few minor dents here and there but nothing major. The spit valve also needs to be reattached - this is a common issue with old horns and is an easy fix. The original case is included, as well as the original music clip.This is one of the greats in terms of jazz trombones of the big band era and would sound great in a current jazz band. The sound is big and dark but can easily get bright - the high range feels great. I am an experienced trombone player who specializes in jazz, and this is a great horn.
