Description:

F.E. OLDS & SON made in Los Angeles, CaliforniaOlds Standard model TromboneS/N 10xxx circa 1936 - Pre-owned Sold "As Is"BORE SIZE: Dual Bore .495 / .510" 16 sided double hexagonal slideBELL SIZE: 7.5" diameterMOUTHPIECE: KING 7CINCLUDES CASEThis is not your typical "used" instrument. The trombone has been serviced and tested by a trombonist who is also a repair tech / private trombone instructor. This instrument is in ready to play condition right out of the case and will take you back to 1936 and is one of those model of trombones that forged the sound of the big bands as we know them by.Serviced & Reconditioned:Cleaned, Dent Work, Slide WorkNew Rubber Slide Bumper, New Water Key CorkNew Water Key SpringBuffed and New Clear Lacquer FinishThis is a pre-owned trombone:There are dents, dings, and wear in general from prior use. There is a dent in the inner slide as this is a dual hexagonal (16 sided) inner slide it was left to not "round" the slide as it does not affect slide movement. Also on the inner slide there is some platting loss on a small part of the dual hex slide edge. See pictures for dent and plating loss on inner slide. If you seek a big band / jazz trombone this is one to seriously consider. Built at the F.E. Olds & Son factory in Los Angeles in 1936 with a dual bore double hexagonal slide. For Olds fans this is a must have horn in a collection. The condition is amazing, restoration was very minimal (just replaceable parts like water key spring, cork and slide bumper installed) as there where no major dents to the bell section, slide is in great shape and movement, spotty remaining old lacquer removed and buffed shiny with new clear lacquer applied. This instrument is near what it was when it was new in 1936 now with a few exceptions that were mentioned above. Many decades of life ahead for this instrument and would make a great player for a serious trombonist wanting to duplicate the big band trombone sound or needs a small bore bone. Cutting edge in it's day it has a slide lock (which were not standard then) and bell nut that keeps the slide section and bell together unlike the typical friction fit bones of the day back then. Build of the instrument just feels good and plays with focus. Case is in good shape and functional. Vintage awesome all the way around from how it feels, plays, sound and look. The over all build on this instrument is wonderful and hoping this horn will go to a player that will get lots of great use out of it. Get this before a die hard LA made Olds collector finds out about this being available for sale as you may not run into one of these again soon that's in this quality of condition.Shipping in the USA only.
