Seller: Alley-Antiques DESCRIPTION: Antique Victorian furniture. This is from my private collection. I always meant to restore this but never seemed to have the time. Very Rare 1860s labelled Bettridge & Co. Papier Mache child's chair. Guaranteed a child's chair and Not a slipper chair or small full size chair. Bettridge & Co. succeeded Jennens & Bettridge & Co. . Bettridge & Co. only were in business for 2 years from 1864-1866. Victorian papier Mache chairs are pretty scarce and a child's chair is Rare ( a labeled Bettridge child's chair is very rare). On the underside of chair is the original brass label stating Bettridge Makers Birmingham. Fabulous form with cabriolet kegs. Gilded pin striping. Inlaid Mother of Pearl. Condition AS IS. Guaranteed 1860s and over 150 years old. The top of the chair was broken off at one time and reaffixed. You can see close up pics of the back and the front of the damage near the top. There is losses of the Mother of Pearl where is was broken. The gold gilding is worn. There are small losses of Mother of Pearl other than where it was broken. The chair is structurally sound. Nice rare display piece as is or could be fabulous with proper restoration. Priced due to rarity even in condition it is in. Look at pics and ask questions as they are considered part of the description. This is being sold as is, but keep in mind it would be difficult to find another. Measures about 30 1/2" tall at extremes and 13" wide at wifest. The seat height is 14" from floor. Shipping cost for Contintal US only. Shipping to Continental US only on this because of size( unless you email first). BID WITH CONFIDENCE . Buyer pays shipping, handling, and insurance. Payment must clear before pick-up or shipping of an item. We need to hear from the high bidder within 2 days of auction end. Payment needs to arrive within 4 days after the auction, or we reserve the right to sell to the second highest bidder or relist the item, unless prior arrangement has been made. We usually ship 3 to 7 days after payment clears. We charge a $2.50 handling fee. All items sold as-is where-is. We are only responsible for the item while in our possession. We will not be held responsible for items lost or damaged during shipping. We will pack all items VERY WELL with bubble wrap and peanuts(furniture will be packed by the shipper). That is why ALL of the items purchased require insurance. In the unlikely event an item is damaged or lost by the mail/shipper we will work with you to help you file your claim, but the settlement will be between you and the carrier. Buyer is responsible for shipping arrangements on furniture items. We do have the phone number/email address of a couple of good shippers and will forward this if needed.
