BINOCULARS - Nautical - 1941 U.S.N. SARD 7x50 - Vinyl Case -- SQUARE D CORP

No Longer Needed
Original SARD Mark 21 Binoculars including a HOOD vinyl case. The Binoculars were built for the U.S. Navy by the Square D Corporation to support the WWII effort. They were issued to the Navy Aerospace program in the early 1940's and were usually carried by a naval officer. They measure 8” wide x 7½” tall x 3” deep, have 2¼” object lenses, and include a vinyl neck strap. The main body is signed "7 x 50" "BU AERO. U.S. NAVY" "MARK 21“ "STOCK NO. R88-B-320”. The vinyl case still has the original tie-down and adjustable carry strap. The top of the lid is signed "BAUSCH & LOMB OPT. CO." "ROCHESTER N.Y. U.S.A." and also has their triangle B&L logo. There are also markings on the case and straps that indicate the maker was "HOOD" and the Model B12. The case also has a small snapped compartment attached inside the lid. The binoculars appear to be functional and the lenses are Anti-Reflection Coated (blue tint). The excellent original condition of both the binoculars and case indicates that they did not have any spacecraft to watch back then. I did not attempt to clean the inside of the lenses and there are a some very minute spatters visible, but they do not detract from the excellent clear view. This five pound nautical artifact is a nice example of the superior U.S. craftsmanship during WWII. Additional Nautical Items Available - Please Call Cliff @ 760-942-2025 For More Information.
