This listing is for mod service, and we also have some of these that are already modded.But let's look at the mod 1st!The DS-1 is popular. Almost all guitar players have seen or played one. Most of us were a little disappointed.It's a good pedal, it just needs a little help! We can take your DS-1 and mod it to the same specs! We use the same parts as in the Keeley Utra with Seeing Eye mod...no more, no less.Steve Vai uses 2 Ultra modded DS-1's that he got from Mr. Robert Keeley. Here is what Mr. Keeley himself has to say about this mod:"DS-Ultras are used by the guitar gods like Vai and Lynch.Our third Keeley mod is going on 8 yrs as the respected measure of tone! The DS-Ultra is our most popular modded distortion pedal!The Keeley Modded BOSS DS-1 Guitar Effect Offers the Finest in Marshall-Amp Tone-In-A-Box!!! The way we engineer the mod, it has increased second order harmonics and tube-like qualities."I have a mod for my own custom mod. Let's call it "Mike's Custom mod."Without getting into major things like true bypass, or asymmetric/symmetric clipping switches, or double stacked opamps (we can go there if you want)...there are components that can be removed and/or replaced with better quality parts of different values to produce a number of differences, all good. These replacement resistors, capacitors, diodes, and led's are hand-picked in my personal DS-1 to tame the harshness of the clipping and the low end, increase the mids, and get rid of that "nasal sound." After this mod, my DS-1 sounds more like an overdrive/distortion pedal. Sounds sort of like the SD-1, but with more guts and low end.
