Refurbished USN Quartermaster’s Telescope. Spyglasses of this type were used by the quartermaster detailed to steer the ship. Built by the Los Angeles based Hayward Lumber Company, it measures 31¼” in length, has a 2¾” aperture (object end), and weighs almost 6 pounds. It is signed “U.S. NAVY BU. SHIPS SPYGLASS” “Q.M. MARK II 16X" "SERIAL NO. 34493 (Circled N) 1943" "HAYWARD LOS ANGELES” The focus adjustment assembly is also stamped with Hayward’s Logo. It has the original line wrapping on the main tube, with sailor macramé at both ends, The telescope does not show any material damage and has a clear view, but has seen some sea duty.
