1965 Fender Bassman Tube Amp Head Blackface Model AA 864Electric Guitar/Bass Amplifier HeadI purchased this amp head from a friend in the mid 1980’s. I used it briefly and then added it to my collection. I recently took it to my amp tech (April, 2024) who changed the electrolytic caps, power tubes and checked it out and it’s operating as it should. He also replaced the power transformer with a used vintage 1964 Fender power transformer that he had. I’ve read and heard before that this particular circuit is much sought after for bass and guitar players alike for it’s clean tones and for lots of headroom. I cleaned the cabinet and installed new piggyback slide hardware since the originals were badly corroded. The black Tolex has a few scrapes and nicks mostly on the bottom but is generally clean. (please see photos). The Fender silver and black logo is matte silver painted, which is original to the 1964. Since this is February 1965, they must have used some of the leftover 1964 logos.
