I'm offering this spick-and-span 1979 Washburn Jethro Burns M6S. For those of you that have actually followed Washburn, this is not one of the more recent M6SW Chinese designs launched in the last couple of years. I had one of those, though not a bad mandolin, they don't compare in products, build quality and noise. The color is sort of a 80's Flatiron amber/orange sunburst with nice flaming in the back and sides. The finish is thin enough to see the grain. This specific instrument invested the last, in my evaluation, 15-20 yrs in it's case. It was possessed by an elderly lady and sold as part of an estate. When I opened the case, the pickguard was broken down, it's bracket rusted and the frets green with stain. The strings were so rusted they just snapped off. That being stated, I eliminated the pickguard, cleaned the worries, oiled the fingerboard and put a fresh set of J74's on her and wow, what a great sounding and playing mandolin. Good low action and stylish slice and volume. I took it to a jam that night and a friend, who owns a Gil and a Duff played it and was extremely amazed with it(practically had him talked into a trade,. sort of). There are 2 small marks in the surface near the headstock and one ding near the bass side F hole. Comes with a solid, however "liked" rectangle-shaped case. The interior is a little crusty but still gets the job done. The blue book value(which I can furnish) is 1000 to 1200 for excellent condition. This is just shy of that, thus my rates. Fraudsters welcome !!!
