This mid 19th century American miniature Empire chest of drawers is a stunning piece of furniture that showcases exquisite craftsmanship and attention to detail. Made of tiger maple, mahogany, and pine secondary, this chest features paneled sides and back, four drawers with original wooden pulls, a serpentine overhanging bonnet drawer, serpentine columns, inlaid diamond faux key surrounds, and scroll feet. It has a mixed brown finish and measures 12.5 inches in width, 8.5 inches in depth, and 13.5 inches in height. It is in beautiful estate condition with an old, probably original finish, The drawers are dovetailed with chamfered bottoms. The wooden drawer pulls are original, with some edge losses, as shown in the photos. The sides each have a tiger maple panel with one edge strip on the left panel missing, as shown in the photo. The interior of the case lacks drawer guide supports for only the third drawer. The chest of drawers has an empire theme and is handmade, making it a one-of-a-kind piece. It weighs 7.5 pounds and has four drawers that provide ample storage space. The care instructions for this chest advise cleaning it with wax.
