Guitar has been in my family for over 100 years. I've personally owned it since 1954. This particular guitar was made before the Washburn factory burned, so it was made around 1864. This instument features inlaid wood around the sound hole and down the back, not a decal like on todays instruments. It is trimmed in Ivory and the tuning pegs are ivory with scrimshaw and inlaid Mother of Pearl. The instument still sounds wonderful. The ebony fret board is worn and grooved from the players finger pressure. It is just an all around interesting instrument.My uncle played this guitar in his band in the 1920's in Kansas. He gave the instrument to me. George Washburn instruments are still being made, but I can't find one on the inter net that is identical to this one I own. I am 74 years old and even though I have twelve grand children and ten g-grand children I have no one who plays an instrument.
