I bought a California electric guitar for my kid to find out on however he's never ever touched it besides to put sticker labels on it. The strings need replacing by now but the bridge is strong together with the tuning keys. My nephew hooked it up to an amp 2 Christmases ago to play Rockmasters and it sounded fantastic. It would be an excellent piece for somebody to learn on. It does not use a whammie bar.
