BOOK one - " Mel Bay's Mountain Dulcimer" published in 1982 by Mark Biggs. In this excellent book, Mark teaches how to add chords to the basic melody line in order to make song arrangements more interesting. There is a wonderful selection of songs within the book ranging from classical to ragtime. The songs are transcribed in Dulcimer tablature with melody line notation as well as accompaniment chords. There originally was a cassette tape of the music in this book. BOOK two - " Photos, Poems and Dulcimer Pieces" published in 1979 by Kevin Roth. Kevin Roth is a well known Dulcimer musician and vocalist. This book contains thirteen of his song arrangements some of which are originals as well as traditional. Most are transcribed with Dulcimer tablature as well as full treble and bass notation. BOOK three - " Fiddle Tunes for Dulcimer" published approx in 1983 by Mark Nelson. Mark is a well known Dulcimer performer and vocalist from Oregon. This pamphlet style book was originally meant to go along with Mark's recording of this title. It's transcribed with Dulcimer tablature as well as melody line notation. The binding on this book is not in the best condition but the contents are fully readable. BOOK four - " The Dulcimer Fair" published in 1982 by Leo Kretzner. This book was based on the album of the same name by Leo Kretzner and Jay Leibovitz. Leo has been an established Dulcimer musician and vocalist for many years. His background is somewhat unusual for a folk musician in that he holds a doctorate in microbiology. He is also a college professor. This book is a combination instruction and songbook. The songs are mostly traditional. The music is transcribed in Dulcimer tablature as well as melody line notation.
