Tobacconist's display cabinet for the world popular Peterson Pipes. 38" H x 251/4" W x 41/2" D. Interior stained, faded. Split to top. Loss to back. Fair condition total but a really unusual piece of tobacciana. Full 50-volume set of The Millenium Edition of the Harvard Classics from Easton Press and 49 blank bookplates. Only 3 volumes (Manzoni; Plato, Epictetus, Aurelius; and Burke) have actually been eliminated from the publisher's cling wrap. Easton Press books are bound in genuine premium leather and use moire material endsheets and a long-term satin ribbon page pen. The spinal columns of these glamorous books are accentuated in 22-karat gold and are hubbed with traditional raised rings. Each special binding is decorated with a deeply inlaid design of 22-karat gold. The page ends are gilded in 22-karat gold for appeal and defense versus dust and humidity. Easton Press Books are also printed on archival-quality acid-neutral paper that is Smyth-sewn for strength and resilience. The existing cost for this set from Easton Press is roughly $3,500.
