1965 Gretsch Corvette, model number 6132, serial number 79103.These guitars are so good, yet fairly overlooked and undervalued. This is a mid-60s set-neck all mahogany guitar, it's lightweight and has a full, fat neck. They are so lively, and ring out acoustically like the best vintage SG you every heard.The Gretsch HiLo'Tron pickup sounds great, almost Tele like. It's a single-coil and is basically mounted flat to the top of the guitar. The vintage wiring is intact and fully operational. The original tuners are made by Van Ghent and although they look old and odd, they are actually very good, very stable machine heads. The bridge on this model changed a few times and this is likely the most rare variant. It is a metal bar bridge on a metal base that is screwed in to the top to stop it from moving around. The bar is the unique variety where the post holes are drilled offset as compensation for intonation. Also, somebody and some point in time re-mounted the bridge and there are visible artifacts from that mistake. The pickguard on these typically is broken or just plain gone as they don't age well in most cases. This one is solid with no breaks but it does have some warping which I think adds to the authentic vintage vibe. Lastly, trapeze tale on this one. A rare few had a Bigsby and many had the Burns Vibrola which is not a great unit in terms of tuning stability. The trapeze is simple, clean and helps to make this particular guitar very resonant and super stable in terms of tuning.The biggest issue with these is the dead-flat fretboard, in my opinion. That is solved on this one as it has been re-fretted and in the process, the fretbaord was radiused to 12". Very comfortable, feels just right and you wouldn't even guess it was ever something different. Lastly, a new bone nut was carved and installed. Set-up is excellent, it plays great.No case with this one, but I will provide an old gigbag to help protect it in shipping. I will package this with great care in a secure box, as I always do, so it will arrive in great condition.
