Kombucha is a fermented tea drink known for its probiotic benefits. The scoby (aka The Mother) is the yeast and bacteria colony that floats in the tea to turn in into kombucha. Right now, I have two kombucha scoby ready for their new homes. I will have more in the coming weeks. What you need to start making kombucha: a scoby, a quart or gallon glass container, black tea (I have been using darjeeling), water, some acidified kombucha and white sugar. With your scoby, I will incude enough acidified kombucha for your first batch as well as a recipe. For an extra fee, I can also include a quart glass jar if you don't have one. It is important to follow the recipe to keep the scoby alive, as it is a sensitive organism and you can kill it. However, once you start making kombucha, there are many recipes online that allow you to add fruit flavors and to make mixed kombucha drinks. Start a great, healthy new hobby today!
