Machine is in like new condition. Includes no ink or usb cord.The X85 is the cheapest device here, so you might expect it to lag behind in quality and speed. But this machine punches well above its weight, making it a great buy if you can't afford the HP PSC 2210.DesignWhen you take the X85 out of its box, your first thought will be: "How on earth did I get all this for 105?" It looks smart, with an LCD screen that lets you control the copier without switching on the PC, and the input and output trays that fold away when not in use. Where it falls behind the HP PSC 2210, and Lexmark's X5150, is ease of use. There's no automatic paper detection or print head alignment here.PrintingWe don't want to be too hard on the X85's printing ability, as it's got it where it counts. In particular, its text quality on plain paper is exemplary. It's also reasonably quick - not the fastest here, but you won't get too impatient at its output of four pages per minute in Normal mode, and almost ten pages per minute in Draft mode.More testing tasks such as printing graphics start to stretch the X85's abilities. Some banding was obvious, but colours were still rich enough to make the right impact. We can't say the same for the X85's budget rival from Epson. However, the X85 falls behind the Epson Stylus CX3200 (and HP) for photo printing. It's too speckly and takes too long - 30 minutes, to be precise.Scanning and CopyingThe X85 includes a perfectly adequate 600dpi scanner. Although it picked up skin tones quite well, it lost too much detail in shadowed areas, making them almost black. The scan software's interface is also a little daunting at first, although we found it easy to customise. Best of all, it took only a minute to scan our A4 photo at 600dpi.
