This rod was my introduction to the Valkyrie line of rods by Megabass. And I was so impressed I bought 6 more different models later on.The graphite/glass blend in the Valkyrie rods gives you a versatile/intuitive taper and action without sacrificing and actually, I think, improving power. Noticeably powerful the first time you hook up with a fish. The spiral wrapped guides also improves the power this rod shows when hooked up. The adjustable handle is really nice for getting it just right to work the frog. Leave in basic mode if pushing the weight rating of the rod... trust me, i broke a handle once. Not only limited to braid and frogging. Lighter punching with 1/2-1oz. weights is enjoyable and easy with the shorter length. Switching to fluorocarbon or mono allows for heavier 1oz.-ish reaction baits like Alabama rigs, Spoons, and Swim baits. The versatile frog shaft VKC-71H is a rod that not only allows for effective frog games in mats, but also twitching in front of reeds and in open-water pockets. The high-torque lifting power helps it maintain control during cover games, and the exquisite rod action and balance make for a convincing presentation in front of reeds. Strong fights in heavy vegetation and lively actions in open areas can all be done with this one versatile frog game shaft.
