Monmouth Western Stoneware Pottery -
These are Western Illinois Stoneware REDWOOD & CEDAR Wareboards.Western Illinois Stoneware Pottery, in Monmouth, Illinois, made pottery for years at the now closed pottery plant.Lots of collectors collect the pottery from this plant from for many years, and years that this plant functioned. The stoneware pottery that was made and taken from the kilns, was put on Redwood wareboards to cool, and later on, Cedar wareboards were made use of.A number of years back, when the Western Stoneware plant was closed, the devices, equipment, and these boards were offered at auction. These boards are from that auction, and they measure roughly 40" X 71/4" X 3/4".they still have the dust from the pottery on them, along with the nicks, gouges, knotholes, and other imperfections that originated from years of use at the pottery. I have offered numerous of these on eBay, and lawn sales that we have actually had more than the years.Several were offered to collectors of the pottery to show pottery on.I have actually built two different fences with that at my home near Monmouth. They have weathered several years, they do not deform, as they are Redwood and Cedar. I have the ones I have staying priced at $1.00 each, ten for $7.00, or $500.00 for all that are left. These can be seen at our office in Monmouth, you can pick the ones that you want.
