This Orvis Encounter 9’0 8wt is a smooth fast-action fly rod for casting larger flies like poppers and streamers to big game fish like northern pike and largemouth bass. This one is sold as-is in serviceable but well-used shape and has proven itself turning over big deer hair bass bugs and 2/0 streamers for northern pike and largemouth bass. It has a fighting butt and two large stripping guides. The lower mid section is two inches short where it broke off, but sanded smooth and fits tight to the tip section through the tip-over-butt ferrule connection. Also, the cork grip has a gouge (see photo). Priced accordingly due to condition, but as-is it’s a solid beginner/backup/budget big game fly rod for casting large flies to big, hard-fighting freshwater fish.Includes original case.
