Wonderful set of 20 Brass AC Fairbanks hooks and nuts as
Beautiful set of twenty near mint Fairbanks "Barrel" style hooks and nuts. Never bent, never polished, never scarred up by improper tools. These are not recent Gil Ricard reproductions. They were removed from a turn of the century banjo, which was NOT a Fairbanks. The banjo was as close to mint as a ca 1890 banjo had any right to be. It was a virtual time capsule. The neck had no wear...not so much as a scratch, but being a lower grade banjo, the neck was poplar and was bowed forward and twisted. The eleven in German silver pot is nearly perfect, and its unlikely that it had ever been polished, I will build a quality neck for it later, but I am reluctantly offering these twenty brass hooks and nuts. I had intended to keep them for a special project, but one of my furry pals, my cat T.J. got very sick and while he's recovering nicely, the hospital bill was way beyond what I was prepared to pay....so some stuff hits the block that will hopefully help me get rid of my "cat payments".... That having been said, selling expenses here are ridiculous, so the price is firm. If nobody needs these, so be it. I have some projects nearing completion that will dispense with the hospital bill, and these will end up on a Fairbanks piccolo project. 27 years in the banjo business, and I've never had a set of these turn up in this condition. Remember, you're looking at 120 year old hardware that has never been polished. This is an opportunity that its very unlikely to ever occur again. If you need museum quality original hooks and nuts of this style, here they are. These hooks are NOT for use with a notched tension hoop. They are for either "rabbited" or "grooved" tension hoops only. Domestic sal es only.
