I would recommend this flute for a younger player from 4th grade up to about freshman or sophomore. My family got this flute 10 years ago when my sister and I were starting out on instruments in 4th grade. I have played this flute every year up until this year because I went to college and needed something that would play with my increasing talents.Has some cosmetic wear. That hasn't effected it's tone and sound quality, and won't effect this at all.The pads were replaced in July of 2011, an investment of $250. Plays and Sounds Amazing :)I have always taken very good care of this flute.
