This auction is for a small oil painting by Antonio Vasquez Parra (1927-1984). He was a friend of my husband, Miguel Pineda Ortega, & gave me this little painting, signed on back, when he was participant in our annual Art Exposition at our hotel in Cuernavaca, Posada del Rey in the 1970s. This has never been on the market.My husband was also born & raised in Taxco. Vasquez Parra's art was very appreciated locally. His work is principally of Taxco street scenes. He told me this depicted four different races, you can see this in the photos. He was very affected by poverty, social injustices, etc in Mexico & many of his paintings are of poor people.His work is exclusively "Mexican" Modern. I am emptying my storage unit in Huntington Beach, CA & shipping out all my things elsewhere.This is an unusual auction object & will only be listed & available one time. My window of dates is between Oct. 28th and Nov. 6th, while I will be emptying my unit.Email questions.
