This Squash Blossom necklace is a beautiful traditional necklace. The original Squash Blossom necklace appeared sometime in the 1880's and the word for the "squash blossom" bead is "yo ne maze disya gi" which may translate to "bead that spreads out." Traditionally, Squash Blossom necklaces were worn at ceremonies. This beaded necklace has 12 blossoms and a turquoise and silver 3" naja. Since each necklace develops characteristics over time, this necklace needs to be worn to produce a patina and the understanding of its value and uniqueness.
