1928 Conn 2B New World Symphony trumpet, gold colored, great playing survivor

Location:
Mesa, AZ
Description:

1928 Conn 2B New World Symphony trumpet, believed to be gold plated (see last paragraph about finish), great playing survivor. Recent ultrasonic clean and precise port alignment, also very minor dent removal. Absolutely great player, gig ready! This is a players’ horn that is ready for whatever you can ask of it. The Conn 2B needs no further press, it is one of the all time great horns. Wonderful, resonant tone, easy high and low registers, intonation is perfect up through high C, my range. No doubt much further if you have the chops!Valves and slides all work perfectly, minor valve plating wear considering they are 95 years old, seals up very well with Hetman’s number 3, valves are fast and sure. First valve slide thumb hook changed to Bach style for comfort and usability. Original thumb ring included. Valve and valve body tops all have the original serial number, this is an intact, as-built original horn as far as I can tell. There is significant finish wear but no rot anywhere. Enough plating(?) is left intact that this horn will look fine from 5 feet or more away, especially if a valve protector wrap is used. I will hate to see this horn go but finances force sale of some of my too many horns. I have only had this wonderful piece for a few months but I just can’t keep them all! Includes oversize case in very good condition and a generic 5C mouthpiece. Regarding the finish on this horn: I thought it to be lacquered when I first saw it. But I researched Conn finishes and I do not believe that they were using lacquer until the 1930s. I think you got silver, gold or highly polished brass with nickel trim. Source: https://cderksen.home.xs4all.nl/ConnArticle11.html So I believe it is a gold plated horn but will not guarantee that it is, in case of any misunderstanding. To me, it appears to be the 00 trim level with gold plating(?), mother-of-pearl trim on bottom valve caps, detailed engraving etc. But another viewer who sounds knowledgeable is adamant that it is lacquer. I am just not sure and have never refinished a horn myself so will not say either way. In summary, it is as shown. Photos tell much, ask any other questions please.
