SUPER COLLEGIATE model trumpet made in Elkhorn, Wisconsin. This trumpet is an incredible player and has that nice vintage mid-century 3-tone look to it with a beautiful copper bell, nickel bell flare, leadpipe and trimming, and lacquered brass trimming as well. The original shiny lacquered finish is approx. 95%+ intact and has been nicely preserved. The valves are smooth and quick andthe slides are all free and lubricated. Silvery valve plating isintact and slides make a nice "pop" when pulled. This trumpet was a well regarded upgraded student/ intermediate model in it's day. The build quality on thesevintage Holtons is extraordinary. Fancy bell engraving reads "BY FRANK HOLTON & CO. - HOLTON COLLEGIATE - ELKHORN WIS. U.S.A." and the receiver is engraved "SUPER". Serial # is 339XXX indicating it was made in 1961 when hornswere built to last. The bell flare diameter measures 5-1/4". Nickel silver leadpipe is in great shape and there are no dents in this horn. The horn is in excellent original condition and was very well cared for over the last 60+ years. This one is very free blowing andis definitely suitable for serious player. It has a rich melodic tone that isn't found in many modern horns. These trumpets are great for almostany musical setting, including jazz, big band and concert band.
