Fully functional ornamental cast iron fireplace gas burner or "stove" developed and patented by Alfred H. Humphrey sometime in between 1922-24. the no. 60 "radiantfire" gas device keeps the initial ceramic insert or "radiating aspect" with a diamond design concept flanking the sides. the fanciful cast iron burner features remarkable cabriole design legs with in-depth grotesque profiles. The original brass finish remains entirely undamaged. ornamental valve control manages original to the grate. the humphrey business was established in 1901, as the basic gas light company in kalamazoo, michigan. in 1916, they patented the "radiantfire" gas heater (there are numerous various designs), which operated gas, heating up a set of ceramic inserts that would glow and radiate heat into the space. they became very popular and offered well. by the 1950's, the business had actually modified it's course by moving into the field of pneumatics. measures 24 x 241/2 x 9 inches.
