C.G. Conn LTD Double French Horn – in Good Condition - Ready for New OwnerThis is a C.G. LTD USA Conn “Kruspe Wrap” 1970 Double French Horn – that has been serviced by seller. Accessories: Comes with a hardshell case and a brand-new French horn mouthpiece.Condition: This instrument is in Good condition: There are small dents, dings, and scratches from wear and use over the entire instrument; and the lacquer finish is only 70% intact. There is also wear and some cloudiness on the nickel-plated part of the instrument as well. However, there are no major dents on this instrument, and in the process of overhauling this instrument, I had the larger bell tube dents taken out. Moreover, all of the braces are secure, all of the slides and valves move freely, the bell is nice and straight, and the lead pipe is in very good condition. The horn looks good and sounds even better. The inner workings of the horn are excellent as the horn has been serviced. Serial number (N58138). I would say that this is a 6D; however, I could not find this designation on the usual parts of this instrument (the paddle bridge or the lead-pipe) and there is a nickel-plated protective guard on the lower part of the bell tubing (bottom side of the horn) near the lead-pipe that is not found on the 6D - this might indicate that this is a higher model - as this is customarily found on the 8D models. However, I cannot in good conscience list it as an 8D as I could not find that indication. Serviced: This horn has been overhauled, chem cleaned, slides and valves were removed, ultrasonically cleaned, and then brushed. Slides were buffed and valves were brushed back to original brass (soft brass brush and water – so as to not damage the valves themselves.) Everything was then reoiled, greased, and reassembled. (See pictures of the actual process.) New strings were then installed and paddles were adjusted. Playability: It has been checked for playability: It plays beautifully. It has excellent compression: slides pop and whooshing noise on some of the slides when pushed back, 2 of the slides are somewhat loose, but not so loose that they fall out, and all of the valves function wonderfully.Manufacture Description: With a reimagined construction, the Conn Double French Horn is an excellent instrument for any advanced student. This intermediate-level French horn delivers stellar performance with the aid of a 0.468-inch bore, a free-blowing “Kruspe” wrap design, and a dark, full-bodied tone. It has a 12-inch, small-throat yellow brass bell that exhibits a fast response and easy playability that younger musicians will wholeheartedly appreciate, as well as the added comfort of an improved valve section. The C.G.
