Early 1900's Vintage SKI's - Park by Gregg Mfg Co. from St. Paul MN. Well over 100 years old! Excellent condition, both labels, good leather straps (The simple leather strap is the oldest ..."strap on your skis ... actually") Beautiful Hickory Vintage Ski's with great color, desirable "pointed" tip, extremely nice groove detail and has some evidence of real use. A discussion piece for your Chalet and excellent wall design, especially if you are from Minnesota:-). ((Henry S. Gregg was president in 1906 of the Minneapolis Iron Store Company, which possessed Park Manufacturing and Gregg Manufacturing business. Park and Gregg began out making wooden farm executes. Gregg began making wooden skis for the Dartmouth Cooperative Society in Hanover, NH in 1919. Henry Gregg's son John Gregg became vice-president of Gregg Manufacturing in about 1926. Demand turned into the 1930s and Gregg Skis was one of the three significant suppliers of skis for the 10th Mtn. Div. throughout WW2. Gregg likewise made toboggans. In 1953, when the Northland/Lund Ski manufacturing facility burned to the ground in North St. Paul, MN, Christian Lund immediately got Gregg Ski Manufacturing, so that he could continue to make skis. Within three weeks from his own factory burning, he began making skis once more in the existing Gregg factory in St. Paul. As of 1954, Gregg Manufacturing was no longer in business. Harry Holmberg worked as a ski engineer and designer for Gregg skis in St. Paul. Harry's brother, Hartvig "Hart" Holmberg, opened a carpentry shop in St. Paul, MN in 1943. Harry called upon Hartvig's production skills and together they started dealing with a prototype, metal-edged ski. After 3 years of creating and refining, Hartvig, Harry and good friend Ed Bjork were ready. In 1955 the very first "Hart" metal-edged ski was introduced.
