Spectacular old Gothic castle chest, highly carved with monsters, fruit, mythical men, Centaurs, knights in helmets, etc. Old ebony finish. Some of the photos were taken with flash, those are the ones revealing it to be a medium brown but it is more like the darker photos, ebony. Opens from the top with plenty of storage room inside like a blanket chest. Sits on carved legs with spindles so it is two pieces, simple to move. It has old hardware that can lock on the front however no secret, even more hardware with deals with on the sides but one handle is hanging and has to be reattached on one end. A really uncommon piece of antique fantasy furnishings. Can be used like a sideboard. The 2 front legs are odd winged gargoyles with huge paw feet and bare breasts. Have to see. It does have some age surface wear occasionally, not bad at all. It is about 41/2 feet long by 40 inches tall. Looks like it came out of a Spanish castle! Asking $1400 or finest offer. 484 MAIN ST.
