This antique Empire library cabinet / bookcase would make a stunning addition to your house or office! It's roomy interior has eight racks that can be made use of to hold your favorite books or collectibles. (There are 6 adjustable shelves and the bottom racks.) It is strong ribbon mahogany with "flashier" solid ribbon mahogany sides and feet. The cabinet has it's original wooden back and initial wavy glass in the doors, which are lockable with the key. The doors shut by themselves and do not have to be locked as the locks are a bit tight while locking. It appears that this piece was hand made and it has actually been dated by an antiques professional between 1890 and 1910, however was informed it could be as early as 1880.The back has a small 2" x 2" patch, but it is not noticeable from the in as one of the shelves covers it. It does not alter the appeal of the cabinet one bit!This spectacular piece has been magnificently brought back and doned with a hand scrubed wax finish leaving the fantastic patina and stunning original wood tones.
