This is a Caravelle Compensating French Horn, it has an unsoldered piece of tubing which renders this horn unplayable without holding down the 4th valve. This can be solved with some work. Other than that, it has scratches, dents, and fairly sluggish valves (which I would recommend you check).It is also missing a brace on the lead pipe.Most of the tuning slides move fairly easily (though you should apply oil), although some of the smaller ones have forced me to use tools in order to remove them for a cleaning.The case that this instrument has is itself in fair condition, with the exception of the piece of rope being used tor a handle, and some stains (which I think is mold but i'm not 100% sure) in the inside of the case.Other than fixing the unsoldered piece of tubing, I would strongly recommend you oil the valves and clean the instrument.Once again, this French Horn is NOT in playing condition.-------------------------------------additional details----------------------------------------The instrument is still fairly lacquered, most of the areas without lacquer are at the "bottom" of the instrument (you should be able to notice it after looking a little bit past the lead pipe).Other than the singular unsoldered piece of tubing, I haven't seen any other air leaks or unsoldered pieces of tubing. That being said, I may be wrong, although I seriously doubt that any other pieces of tubing would be unsoldered.I believe that the finish material is yellow brass, although i'm not 100% sure, seeing as I've never handled a professional true brass instrument.As for the sound of this instrument (Once again, you can use it to an extent by holding down the fourth valve), it has a very rich sound, although you would never expect a seller to say anything negative about the sound.Also, important, I am new to this whole shipping process, so if you do happen to win this auction, please be aware that I do not know when this item will arrive to you.If you have any questions regarding this instrument, please feel free to contact me.
