New 1991 Bridgestone RB-2 Barn find. This bike was found in Colorado this fall in a barn. This bike is brand new from A & B Bikes in La Mesa, CA. The owner closed the shop, retired and moved to CO in the early 90's. The owner passed some time ago and his son was clearing out the property to sell it. I am facilitating the sale of this bike for him. This bike was detailed by me just prior to taking these pictures using dish soap, sponges and brushes: no pressure wash. I replaced the shift cables because they were frayed. All the cable housings are beautiful and the brake cables are fine. I pumped the tires up and all the rubber is in amazing shape. The tubes have been holding air for several weeks now. There are some small scratches in the paint and decals and a scuff in the side of the saddle from over the years, but there is no rust, no dents, no bends or cracks, no problems, no seized parts, post or stem (it looks new inside the steerer tube and seat tube) and it sits today exactly as it was described in the 1991 Bridgestone catalogue with the exception of the new Suntour cranks. This bike would have originally had Shimano cranks, but they must have been changed out at some point by the bike shop. The Suntour cranks are new as well. The bar tape and hoods are original and are not gummy/gooey. I would assume whoever purchases this will want to grease all the bearings if they were to ride it. I can do that for an extra fee if the buyer requests this. If the buyer was going to ride this bike it would be good to replace the tires and tubes for safety. Collectors may just keep it exactly as it is since it has original Bridgestone rubber on it. I have shifted through the gears in the stand and it all works like new. The brakes function, the surfaces of the rims are new and the pads are intact, but are a bit dry: no cracks though. Spokes are galvanized and nips are brass and both have some minor discoloration in some spots, no corrosion though. All bolts turn freely, components work and all the bike's materials seem to be well preserved. All bearings turn effortlessly without any pitted or harsh feelings. All bearings are adjusted properly. The freehub clicks wonderfully and the indexed shifters sound fantastic and positive. Please note the original sales tag in one of the pictures. The serial number on the tag matches the serial number on the bike. I removed the tag so I could clean the bike, but it will be included in the sale. You can find the 1991 Bridgestone catalogue online and it will give you all the specs and geometry. It is all exactly like this bike. It will be professionally packaged and shipped.
