Description:
Antique travel trunk or blanket chest from the 1800s measuring 26.5" x 14" wide x 14.5" tall. It features wrought iron hardware with an ornate lock plate and still has both handles. No key. Constructed with hand wrought nails and dovetailed corners. The red paint appears to be original as is the lettering written on the front, judging by the amount of wear and fading, it is difficult to read but still there. Chest overall shows appropriate age and use related wear to the wood with numerous shrinkage cracks, and the inside of the lid was reinforced with metal strapping at some point early on.
