This painting has been in my Family since 1970. It hung in a Saloon in Plymouth, Indiana from the early 1920's to the late 1950's till its find in storage in 1970. Painted 1920. It is signed by the Artist, Bess Barry. Study on her found her to be a native of the State of Texas, staying in Fort Wayne, Indiana from before 1920 till her fatality. She was a storefront painter who painted people and scenes as she saw them outside the locations she painted. It is oil on canvas and is framed in a solid Oak Frame. The age of the wood of the frame was identified to be likewise of the very early 1900's. In 1977 in Carson Piere Scott and Co., in the housewares section of the establishment, my mom discovered a 11/2 ft x 3 ft anonymous copy that was priced at that time @ $1200.00. We believe ours to be the original. Alasko Galleries in Chicago, IL. saw picturesin 1977, and might not at that time approximate it's real value. Stated "Undetermined". The Antique value alone, far exceeds my asking price! This will make a Beautiful addition to anyones decore and will certainly be offered well below it's real, or emotional value. My task moves me around too much to keep carrying it as major damage might occur. I would choose get of this painting locally, however if you arrange crating and shipping I would consider that also. My camera does disappoint the true rich colors as the flash lightened the images.Offered up until JULY 25th. At that point I will certainly be crating it up and getting ready to ship to my brand-new place.
