Rare "Kinna" easy chair designed by Hans Olsen for Viska Mobler and made in Sweden in the 1960s. Solid teak frame with sculptural tapered arms, back bar, and legs. The sling-style back/seat fits over the top of the frame and attaches with three buckles to the lower back stretcher bar. A loose seat cushion with light fill rests atop the sling for a little added softness.The sit is very low and just a little bit reclined, with an upturn to the seat towards the front. You could lounge in this chair and still have a conversation, or sit with a laptop in your lap.The teak frame is in overall great condition with some minor surface wear and has been freshly cleaned and oiled. No signs of any structural issues. The suede is original and has visible wear and patina that speak to the many decades this chair has been enjoyed so far. The nap is worn down to various degrees throughout, and there are water marks in several places, most notably at front left backrest, across the seat cushion, and at back-facing backrest. Please review the photos closely. There is also a portion of the suede sling where it was originally folded over and glued to itself at the underside, where the glue has since worn out and that bit of extra sling material hangs down. Not very noticeable as it doesn't go far beyond the stretcher bar in front of it. Doesn't affect functionality or stability. Stamped and signed underneath the stretcher bar.Hans Olsen was a student of Kaare Klint at the Royal Danish Academy's Furniture School, and was known for his distinctive style which tended to be more experimental than the usual Scandinavian traditions.In addition to local pickup in Portland, OR, blanket-wrapped delivery to the contiguous United States via uShip is also available.
