Antique Victorian Walnut Carved Figural Griffin Northwind Hallway Storage Bench, c. Late 19th CenturyThis Victorian Hall Bench pairs nicely with many Traditional inspired interiors. The solid walnut shows a drastic grain throughout, accompanied by a deep satin finish. Throughout, you'll enjoy hand carved motifs, including a double figural griffin top crown, northwind face panels & madam sphinx arm rests. Its fine carvings are attributed to RJ Horner - But is unmarked or signed. The Bench's hinged top and interior storage makes for a practical entryway/foyer accent. The piece was professionally refinished, very well done so.Condition:This Heavily Carved Walnut Storage Bench was exceptionally well made, it's solid, sturdy and heavy. The Bench was professionally refinished at some point in its life, but not in recent years. The walnuts satin finish is nicely aged, showing mild surface scratches and blemishes. The hinged top opens and closes as it should to reveal clean interior storage.
