Check out this original 1950’s gem from the golden age of sound. Killer styling, killer tone, and rare in this sweet shape.Made for just a few short years, from 1956 to 1958, the Gretsch 6169 cowboy amp is now highly sought-after, especially in this condition. Original cream-white tolex, brass-studded tooled leather bands, original 6x9 Rola speakers, brass campfire belt-buckle badge, and of course the way-cool wrap-around steer-head grille & tweeter porthole.Plus, the sound is to die for. With its kickass dual 6V6 power-plant you get all the rich, warm tone that make these 1950’s tube-amps so desirable. Yet crank it up past three-quarters, and it also gives you a rollicking crunch. Plus, the tone control delivers a genuine high-to-low sonic spectrum. Even has a treble jack-in, for when you want even brighter tones. Now click the amp’s included footswitch and engage the built-in tremolo, as lush, sweet, & warbly as a chorus of songbirds.Best of all, the amp is in crackerjack condition, and original from its cream tolex to its transformers, from its speakers to cream knobs, and all the elecs, too. Not perfect by any means, with its share of nicks, scuffs, scratches, & dings (just enlarge the pics to see all). Two of the corners also have a spot of touch-up, less than a half-inch around, and literally invisible without a black light. Overall, this rare Model 6169 cowboy amp is pretty darn clean, and way, way nicer than the very few others I’ve seen listed. They just don’t come up for sale often in this nice shape.Specially made for Gretsch by Chicago’s illustrious Valco Company, during the 1950’s glory days of Chet Atkins, Jimmy Webster, Duke Kramer, and of course the famous 6120 & Round-Up guitars.
