I found this bike online here last year. Ive been looking for an old chrome MTB to convert into a gravel bike for years but they go for crazy money. This meant I had to wait until I found an ugly paint over chrome to strip. Turns out I had to buy 3 bikes to get the only one I wanted. So this came with chipped up Miami Vice style paint job. It had a good frame and was rideable with a little elbow grease at least until the derailer self destructed. That was all the push I needed to start buying parts. So heres the changes Citrus Strip Saran Wrap to reveal the beautiful chrome under the paint. Switched the wheel out for one that was 9 speed. Original included if you want Shimano Deore XT Derailer New Quill stem to 1-1/8 converter New short stem with rise New Uno Gravel drop bar New Microshift bar and shifter New Tektro levers and bar tape New Tektro fork mount cable hanger New Serfas Drifter baloon tires New huge platform pedals with steel pins. From the Schwinn Catalog For reliability there are sealed hubs and the Sierra has a full chrome-moly double-butted frame for lighter weight with a unique chrome bottom section. Now all chrome This is a large frame probably best for 59 to 61. Im 59 and it fits me but I would size down if I had the choice. This thing rides great. Chrome Moly frame with ballon tires combine for a smooth ride. Its a simple rugged bike that will still look great in 50 years. Im asking 600 OBO.
