Vintage Striped Cat Unique Hand Carved from Solid Wood Hidden Compartment Here is a vintage piece of folk art, a unique hand carved solid wood cat with strips. It has the look of the Cheshire cat from Alice's Adventures in Wonderland . This cat has lots of character!!! There is a hidden compartment underneath where you can really see the age of the wood. This is a very heavy cat, weighing almost 6 pounds. The provenance that I am able to provide is that this piece came from the estate of a couple that lived in Malaysia and Singapore during the late 1950's to early 1980's. They collected many unique Asian pieces and art. As far as I can tell, there are no markings on the cat. It measures 11" long by 9" high and is 5" deep. Please see pictures for condition.
