RARE Antique / Vintage Art Deco Era Cobalt Blue Glass MirrorWow! This haunting mirror will leave you speechless with its striking deep blue color and bewitching reflection! Popular during the Art Deco era, cobalt blue glass mirrors were used in select architecture and decorative pieces, with a limited amount of this glass being created by only a few companies in the United States. This mirror is believed to be an authentic antique from the Early 20th Century. This mirror has properties reminiscent of pleochroism, with its color alternating from blue to purple to blue-grey depending on the angle, similar to an Iolite gemstone. Its reflection creates a somewhat double image (see photos of items on mirror). The mirror's glass itself is blue, it isn't just a color added to the exterior. With a felt backing, the mirror's original use was most likely as a vanity or tabletop mirror, reflecting back the lovely glass bottles of perfume, cosmetics, and trinkets sat upon it. Use as a base for your altar, or prop it up and gaze into its hypnotic reflection and use it as a scrying glass. It makes a beautiful plate for jewelry and baubles, creating a glow around all that it touches. Or hang it up and give your space a whole new look! Add a pop of moody color to any room with this gorgeous piece.This mirror is very high quality, which is evident in how well it has held up throughout the decades. It is 1/4" or 6mm thick and is incredibly sturdy and non-flexible, with subtly beveled edges. The mirror has scratches on the glass and the backing, and has 2 small chips on the back side along the edges. Overall, the mirror is incredibly clear for its age.
