This is a Besson New Standard model 3 valve compensating euphonium, made in England around 1978. It has an 11" bell, and takes a large shank mouthpiece. Serial # 618373.. It is silver plated with about 75-80% of the finish intact, with most of the wear around the valve cluster, where it may have been held while playing. Valves are top action. There are innumerable little dings, but nothing so large as to call it a dent. All slides slide. All valves move quickly and easily. Sound is good, as a typical euphonium sound. This is a compensating euphonium in that the valves are extra long and allow for extra tubing to be engaged when the player uses a valve combination that would typically be sharp. For example, valves 2 and 3 together often result in a pitch that is sharp. A compensating horn engages extra tubing to bring that valve combination down to pitch.Will ship only to the continental 48 states Mouthpiece is included. Case is in poor shape, but will protect the horn in shipping.
