If you're looking for a terrific dorm fridge--at a budget that won't set the average student back very far--the Magic Chef MCBR170W is a nifty little compact refrigerator. It has only basic features, but it comes at a nice low price that will make owning this fridge a snap. Although Magic Chef's MCBR170W is available only at large home center stores such as Home Depot and Lowe's, it's worth the trip to the store to purchase it. This model has a capacity of 1.7 cubic feet, which is ideal for a student who wants to keep a few soft drinks and some snacks handy in his or her dorm room. This model is compact in design--standing just over 19 inches tall--so it can easily fit into a corner or underneath a desk. It uses about 295 kWh of energy each year, so you'll pay approximately $25 a year to operate it. The interior of the Magic Chef MCBR170W has one full-width shelf. It also has a top corner freezer large enough to store an ice cube tray. This compact refrigerator has a smooth back, so none of the fridge mechanicals are exposed or vulnerable to dust and dirt. There's a single full-width shelf on the door so you can store liter-size bottles or cans with ease.
