For sale is an extremely rare and potentially 1 of a kind example of an Alpina Gruen 877S Techno Quadron Doctors watch.This watch features the uncommon Alpina spec watch dial, with gold gilt markings on a black finished dial. With an even more uncommon stainless steel case with gold-tone crown guard that was only available in select European markets. The watch comes with its original adjustable sliding clasp band.What sets this watch apart is that this watch was manufactured without the standard markings featured on most Gruen watches of the time, other than 877S denoting the movement type. The dial and the movement lack any branding, jewel counts, country of origin etc. It was presumed to be shipped out as a prototype and was to feature the exclusive branding of the jeweler under its own branding for the European markets. There is a signature hidden in the watch of what is believed to be the original jeweler who it was shipped to. "Dobner Trieste", a well known and historic high end fine jewelry company located in Trieste Italy. Known for limited run watch collaborations with well known manufacturers, creating highly desirable and valuable pieces. This watch currently is not running and will require service. The crown can be used to adjust the time and wind the watch. It may need a new balance staff. The crystal is a square acrylic piece with some scratches present. There is no visible wear through marks on the gold plating of the crown guard but there is some blemishes and imperfections. The sliding clasp band does have a few stretched links, there is some wear through on the back side but it does function normally.All sales are final, NY residents pay 8% sales tax.
