this is a fantastic piece of 18th century furniture with a little provenance , the paper work that came with this box was in it when we retrieved it from the estate, nailed construction all rosehead period nails, the box probably dates around 1760-1790 pine, strap hinges, which several of the rosehead nails have fallen out and screws added at some point in time , the original lock and catch are there but no key, there is a drawer inside as well , I dont want to say its red paint , but it has a red hue to it , probably just a worn out red wash that just gives it a tone , wonderful cut out sides, full height , alot times these are worn down this one was taken care of ! a wonderful antique piece !
