1940s ALLMEN Trumpet .460 ML bore NY Bach stepbrother....great lead horn!!!

Location:
Clermont, FL
Description:

1940s ALLMEN Trumpet .460 step bore NY Bach stepbrother....great lead horn!!! IF SHIPPING IS RIDICULOUS CONTACT ME FIRST>>>>THE EBAY CALCULATOR IS USUALLY WAY OFF>>.....I know i wasn't the first to rediscover these horns but i would guess at 20 of them i've probably had more than anyone....they're really a sleeper....and VERY worthy..............Brasshistory.net has a nice page on him.......Karl Allmendinger was the Bronx factory foreman for bach....these horns are made from NY Bach valve sets with different bells/leadpipes....they also seem to share the parts with the Rudy Muck horns of this time period which are so desirable so i think they may have been made side by side....it's funny but i don't think i've seen 2 that are the same....share the NY Bach dimensions which are different than later Mt Vernons.....the width between the leadpipe and the bells are narrower than later.....also tuning slide is a bit narrower too....and in fact i know that the MK Drawing NY Bach slides do fit perfectly with these...if you want to experiment......later serial number so possibly late 40s into early 50s.......i goofed....had the wrong tuning slide......460 in the whole horn.....horn has a great lead sound, cuts like crazy!!....to me the bell looks a little throaty at the end....to me more focused than the holton horns, closest i could come was a bach 72 but this one more focused than that too.. cut in on the lower tuning slide outer tube like a french besson..... pro level....nickel outer tubing......h......that's the advantage with older horns....the metal from back then was definitely different....they can copy designs all the manufacturers want but they can't replicate the raw metal....valves have little or no play in them, very tight....slides all work good, has a 3rd dump slide....a few pings here and there, no major damage present...i did have to resolder the top 3rd slide tube....had come loose...so it's as clean as i dare, don't want to over buff the knuckle....you have to look to see it....horn is polished raw brass...i will come up with some 3rd rod nuts, can't remember if bach fits these ...maybe have to be some conns.....i'll provide a case for transport.....if you don't need it shipping will be less....it's had a chem and ultrasonic cleaning, new felts/corks......EU buyers price does NOT include VAT or dutiesPAYMENT EXPECTED IN 3 DAYS.....PLEASE contact me ahead of time if you need to be outside that timeframe!!!!CONTACT ME WITH QUESTIONS and please visit my other auctions! _gsrx_vers_334 (GS 5.4.3 (334))
