Vintage 1966 Olds Recording Bb TrumpetThis is a 1966 Olds Recording in excellent original condition. The horn retains approximately 80% of its original lacquer, with some small scratches throughout the finish. There is no evidence of any major dents or solder repairs. At some point a very small repair was performed in the bell tail. Otherwise, the horn shows no signs of past repairs.A valve job was done in November 2022 by Oberloh Brass Works in Seattle. The valve compression is excellent and the action is very smooth and quiet. All slides fit perfectly and move freely. The horn is a joy to play!The Recording model has the offset middle valve and balanced forward valve design; the Re-O-loy bell, more commonly known as "gold brass" due to the higher copper content; the spring loaded third valve trigger; and the distinctive bell engraving. This horn was made during the height of Olds popularity in the Fullerton plant. Although Olds production increased significantly during the 60's quality control remained excellent and this horn is a wonderful example from this era.The horn comes with two cases: An original 1960’s vintage tweed Olds case and a modern style two-tone brown Olds replica case that’s roughly a year old. It should be noted that the vintage tweed case does not include a lock key and one of the latch springs is missing. There is also a slight musty smell in the vintage case that’s to be expected considering its age.
