PRE-WAR 1938 Recording King 1124 / M5 (Gibson L4) 16" Archtop w/New Frets, Truss Rod, Fancy Inlays! Vintage 1976 GIBSON MK-53 Maple Kasha / Schneider Player's Guitar w/TKL CaseUp for consideration is a Player's Grade 1976 Gibson MK-53 acoustic guitar w/an aftermarket TKL case. This guitar is from the experimental Kasha / Schneider series, which has the unusual Kasha Bridge and Richard Schneider bracing system. This guitar also comes with the original 'N' bridge saddle, which is unusual because it has about the same thickness as a standard nut!! Other unusual features are the headstock design, the mini tornavoz / focused sound ring / rosette. These guitars have their fans, and for me the guitar sounds excellent, and is typical of a Gibson maple guitar. The guitrar sounds great, and is selling at a reduced price because it has quite a bit of playing wear. Normally, the well-played guitars sound really good, and this guitar is no exception, because the guitars that don't sound good don't get played very often. The guitar has a nice bass to treble fullness, has a nicely prominent 1st string -- which is what I look for in an acoustic guitar -- and is easy to play. Cosmetically, it does have several dings and wear marks, notably some picking or finger erosion wear near the sound hole, as well as on the back of the neck around the 2nd fret. Also 2x of the original Tulip tuners have been replaced with a different tuner model on strings 3 and 4. The guitar did not come with a pick guard, as can be referenced in the photo from the Gibson MK Series catalog.Sound wise, I believe this is one of the better ones, for in addition to getting a lot of playing time, the Gibson maple guitars are consistently excellent sounding, and this guitar is in the same family, and if you are a fan of Gibson's spruce/maple guitars, then chances are you will really like this one as well. This is an excellent opportunity to get a Player's Grade guitar at a nice discount, one that still plays perfectly, and sounds great.
