The Gotham deviates from pure Staunton with its sole features and lines that are best described as art decoration. The pieces share an good looking profile with beatiful curves and shapes. There are no collars adding to the uniqueness of the design, the pieces retain a Staunton familiarity. The red sandalwood is gorgeous with a blend of rich colors that range from coral red to dark burgundy. The ebony is pure black and polished to a good looking glossy shine. Matched together, the red sandalwood and ebony create a awesome combination.The king is 4.4" tall and has 2 different queens that can be interchanged according to your personal taste. The queen has only 5 points with each point topped with a round finial. The bishop miter is not separated from the body with a collar yet speaks in its shape. The knight retain their Staunton form with features such as the eyes, ears, nose, and mouth gives artful details. The rooks are slender but have the traditional cuts into the wall. The pawns have a rare elongated head with a pointed top.The Gotham includes a Deluxe Chess Coffer lined inside with real billiard cloth.
