Thank you for viewing our listing! Up for your consideration is this very old antique old master style oil painting featuring a sickly figure being helped by another man with a dog by their side. I haven’t quite been able to figure out the exact scene this painting depicts- at first I thought the wounded man was Christ but with no crucifixion marks on his hands or feet I don’t believe him to be the subject, there is another bible story of Lazarus the Beggar who was suffering from sickness and gained compassion and companionship from dogs I think that fits more closely to the subject- saint of dogs?As you can see the piece is in need of serious restoration and has been glued to a thick card stock print to keep what’s left of the painting intact.
