Antique 1850 Pennsylvania Minniature Dovetail Blanket Chest Old Paint as Fraktur

This colorful little gem boasts dovetail and wrought nail construction and rests on original dovetail bracket feet. Measuring just 12 1/2" tall x 10 5/8" deep x 17 1/2" wide, it dates ca. 1845-1860 and is constructed entirely of tulip poplar. The top has bread board construction with a chip-out at one front corner that reveals a small wrought nail. The brass hinges are original with a variety of later replacement screws in the lid and the interior is very clean. It appears the original color was black and the prevailing blue may have been added in the 19th century. The elaborate hand-painted fraktur-inspired designs of elaborate birds, hearts and flowers appears to have been added before 1950. The underside has original yellow paint with some smears of black and red. All of the blocking has small wrought nails. WE ARE ALWAYS HAPPY TO SHIP WORLDWIDE IF ALLOWED BY USPS.
